Product Description:

A mug in buff stoneware with a thin coating of white slip and two rows of a sgraffito bud motif, used previously on earthenware at Michael Cardew’s Winchcombe Pottery. Personally marked by one of Britain’s most celebrated and most modest potters at his second pottery, Wenford Bridge, probably in 1972. With impressed MC and Wenford Bridge seals and an original price label of £0.75. 3 1/2” high, 3 3/4” wide. To include my contemporary photograph of MC if desired (from slide). You may specify the size of the image: if large it will be mailed separately. The mug was item No. 45 in one of Cardew’s annual sales in Camelford. Please let me know if you require further information. The red number on the base is a loan accession number from Bristol City Art Museum. The piece is covered by eBay’s return policy.
