MONUMENTAL BRUTALIST CALIFORNIA STUDIO ART POTTERY VASE SCOTT PARADY 24 3/4"
Scott Parady Studio Pottery Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this monumental, modernist studio art pottery vase by Scott Parady. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This piece is approximately 24 3/4 inches tall, with a maximum width of about 10 3/4 inches. It weighs more than my 20 pound capacity scale can handle, but I estimate the weight to be around 22 pounds. This piece has a dramatic, imposing presence, with an interesting surface texture and handles. This would be a fabulous addition to a collection of studio ceramics. Identification This piece is marked and dated beneath, "Parady 95." Parady is a well-known California potter. He received his MFA at Penn State University. He currently is a ceramics professor at CSU Sacramento. His pieces are hand-built and wood-fired Condition This piece looks good overall, with light wear. There are no post-production cracks. There are scattered small flakes and chips to the textured edges. There are some scattered color touch-ups to light-colored clay areas that were the result of spalling during the firing process. To the base and to the inside of the neck, there are a some firing fissures, as made. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding or buying.
