Vintage Studio Pottery Oval Platter Description and Item Information Up for sale is this large, vintage studio art pottery platter, dish, or shallow bowl. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This oval piece is approximately 2 1/4 inches tall; it is about 20 3/4 inches long by 15 inches wide (sunglasses for scale only). Unpacked, it weighs about 8 pounds. This wonderful piece has a fish motif, executed in sgraffito and multicolored glazes. The base is unglazed rusty buff clay. This would be a nice addition to a collection of vintage studio ceramics. Identification This vintage piece is unsigned. Based on the decoration style and glazes, it is attributed to the Pond Farm Pottery near Guerneville, California (north of San Francisco). The exact artist is not known; perhaps it was made by a student of Marguerite Wildenhain. This piece was acquired in northern California. Condition The platter looks great overall, with no cracks or post-production chips. The unglazed base has light wear. As made, the unglazed base has some small divot areas where it looks like it stuck to the kiln; there also are some small, flat, extra clay bits fused beneath. Slight asymmetry, small glazed-over indents, and glaze application variations are as made. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding or buying. Terms of Sale 1. Sales Tax Before merchandise is shipped to a California address (or picked up or delivered within California), sales tax will be collected, unless the buyer provides a properly completed and valid California resale certificate form by mail (or in person, in the case of pick up or delivery). No exceptions. 2. Payments The buyer must prepay before merchandise is released. Paypal payments over $250 will only be accepted if delivery is to an address with a confirmed status. Contact the seller in advance of bidding or buying to find out about accepted payment methods for local pick ups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. 3. Shipping and Handling Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller typically ships on Mondays and Thursdays, unless a holiday or special circumstance precludes it. If payment is via Paypal, the merchandise will be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier. Economy shipping within the U.S. includes delivery to a physical address via an economy shipping method of the seller's choice. At the discretion of the seller, a faster shipping method may be utilized at no additional cost to the buyer. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping and handling costs may be required. For domestic parcels, a signature will be required for delivery if the total Paypal payment for merchandise inside the parcel is greater than $250 (excluding California sales tax). If international shipping is available, this will be indicated on the "Shipping and Payments" tab. Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. The seller will determine the international shipping method(s). Some merchandise may be too large to be shipped to certain countries. Some countries have restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. The seller will only use legal shipping methods. Customs forms will not be falsified. International buyers, please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when the item is picked up; do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. The seller does not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as gifts. U.S. and international government regulations prohibit such behavior. 4. Other Information The seller makes every attempt to provide an accurate description and photos. Individual computers may display colors differently. The images and descriptions on this page may not be used without the express permission of the seller. All merchandise is sold "as is where is." The buyer agrees to indemnify and hold the seller harmless from and against any and all liabilities and expenses, of whatever kind or nature, arising from or related to the use, misuse, resale, or redistribution of the merchandise. A person under the age of 18 must not bid or buy without the consent of their legal guardian. Acceptance of Agreement By bidding or buying, the buyer acknowledges their understanding and acceptance of the above Terms of Sale.
